Replacement income

Many government benefits or income replacement benefits are also available to members of the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung. We can provide you with information about your options.

Unemployment benefit

For unemployed members receiving ALG I who are exempt from statutory pension insurance (GRV), the Employment Agency will, upon application, cover the contributions to the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung. To do so, please request a certificate of contribution coverage from the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung.

Sickness, Injury, and Long-Term Care Benefits

Under Section 47a(1) of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V), health insurance funds also make pension contributions from sickness benefit on behalf of members who are exempt from statutory pension insurance in the event of incapacity for work.

Sickness benefit

SÄV members with statutory health insurance must submit an application to their health insurance fund so that the fund pays pension contributions to the SÄV. The amount is based on the sum that would otherwise have been payable to the statutory pension insurance scheme. Anyone who chooses not to submit an application will not pay any contributions to the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung for a maximum of 72 weeks whilst receiving sickness benefit.

Injury benefit

Recipients of injury benefit who are exempt from statutory pension insurance are also entitled to have their pension insurance contributions covered by the accident insurance fund from this injury benefit.

Care Support Allowance

Anyone receiving the Care Support Allowance may apply to the care insurance fund to have their contributions to the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung covered for up to ten working days per year. This is subject to the condition that the recipient holds a valid exemption from statutory pension insurance.

Contributions from transitional allowances

Since 1 January 2023, in accordance with Section 3(1)(2b) of Book VI of the Social Code (SGB VI), temporary soldiers who receive transitional allowances and have been covered by supplementary insurance under Section 186 of SGB VI are exempt from the obligation to pay pension insurance contributions.

Accordingly, the Federal Ministry of Defence pays contributions from transitional allowances for members whose supplementary insurance has been arranged in accordance with Section 186 of SGB VI to the Sächsische Ärzteversorgung. Section 11b(5) of the Military Pension Act has been amended accordingly.
